A 9:10 for 9/10
----------------------------------
Psalm 9:10
And those who know Your name will put their trust in You;
For You, Lord, have not forsaken those who seek You.
----------------------------------
Psalm 9, like so many of the Psalms, is a song of prayer and thanksgiving, written by David.
David had many reasons to be thankful and to praise God, like we all do.
He put his trust in God and was always seeking Him, and we should be doing the same.
Why put your trust in Him like we read here?
Why seek Him as David says?
The answer is in the verse. Read it again.
It says “And those who KNOW YOUR NAME will put their trust in You”
His character is in His name, and when you know His name, you know His character.
His name is El Shaddai (Lord God Almighty)
When we’re burdened and weak, why would we not seek and trust the one who is almighty?
His name is Jehovah Rapha (The Lord That Heals)
When we’re sick or afflicted, why would we not seek and trust the Great Physician?
His name is Jehovah Shalom (The Lord Is Peace)
When we’re stressed and worried, why would we not seek and trust the Prince of Peace?
His name is Jehovah Jireh (The Lord Will Provide)
When we have real needs, why would we not seek and trust the one who provides?
His name is Jehovah Nissi (The Lord My Banner)
When we need a victory, why would we not seek and trust the one who conquered even death?
His name is Jehovah-Raah (The Lord my Shepherd)
When we’re lost and need guidance or protection, why would we not seek and trust the Good Shepherd?
He’s called by many other names in scripture.
If you know His name you know His character, and if you know His character you can’t help but seek Him and trust in Him like we read here.
Seek Him, start a relationship with Him and see His character already at work in in your life.
