Isaiah 6:8
Then I heard the voice of the Lord, saying, “Whom shall I send, and who will go for Us?” Then I said, “Here am I. Send me!”
Here God is asking the question from His throne - not specifically to Isaiah, but Isaiah responds because he is LISTENING, waiting on God's voice.
God asks “Whom shall I send, and who will go for Us?”
“Whom shall I SEND?”
- We are all sent.
And then, “Who will go for Us?”
- God is looking for us to make the CHOICE to go for Him.
He sends us, and we respond by going with the message of the good news of Jesus Christ.
Where do we go?
To the workplace, to the grocery store, to our families and friends.
We can go to the ends of the Earth, we can we go just outside our front doors, but we have to know that we are SENT, and DECIDE to go.
Decide to go and board a plane if that’s the call, or decide to just open your front door and step out to tell someone about the Love of Jesus.
God doesn’t ask, “Who shall I send that has the right qualifications? Who has a degree in theology that can go for Us?”
He simply asks, “Whom shall I send, and who will go for Us?”
He’s looking for willing hearts, not degrees or certificates.
He doesn’t say “Who shall I send to Europe to preach, who shall I send to Russia to build churches?”
He doesn’t specify where we are to go or how we are to serve.
He’s looking for us to first make the decision to go.
Isaiah responds immediately as we all should – “Here am I, Send me!”
He doesn’t say “Well I’m pretty busy right now”, or “I’m not educated enough”, or “I’m afraid to go!”
He doesn’t hesitate, make excuses, or try to bargain - he simply trusts God and says “Here am I, Send me!”
The next thing God says is to Isaiah - “GO, and tell this people…”
We are ALL called to go and be ambassadors for Christ.
We see this again in the Great Commission:
Matthew 28:19-20
Go, therefore, and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, 20 teaching them to follow all that I commanded you; and behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”
God asks “Whom shall I send, and who will go for Us?”
How will you respond?
